Visual Scope Services

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

visualscopelogo.gifLike the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”, people still do it, and the same to anything else– like blogs or websites– design is a huge factor in its judgement. In fact, a bad design may stop you from your web goals; e.g. more ads, more hits, etc. So if you don’t think you can handle it, take your pick of web designers and marketters throughout the web.

Visual Scope Studios is a Seattle-based company offering website design and development services.

On Showcase

visualscope1.gifThey have a large and growing portfolio, with different a range of categories, every one reaching down below the fold (complete with screen shots!), showcasing previous work they have done. This shows that they have experience; in web design, and in business management, not only specializing in one topic, which is definitely a plus.

Design

One of the services Visual Scope specializes in is Web Design. They have a clean style, matching colour schemes; priorities above the fold. I’m not sure if there is more than one designer or if they were from 1999, but some designs are less “modern” than others, using an old and un-user-friendly design, so I decided to take a look at the source code to see why.

A Shock.

The News Room Videos- Get Paid.

Monday, June 18th, 2007

The News Room Logo

The News Room is a news video program which lets you embed relevant news videos on your blog while you earn money. You can earn money by simply embedding videos.
How it Works
When you embed a video from The News Room onto your blog, the videos come with advertisements. (embedding videos is called “mashing”) The News Room shares the revenue from the ads with you, and you can earn up to $4 per thousand impressions (CPM).
You can also earn money when someone mashes the video from your blog and the video gets viewed on theirs. The rate is usually $0.15 CPM.

Benefits
You will get to embed fully licensed, up to date news videos for free on your blog/website, while earning money. (A content and money generator? Take a look at the video above.)

Another benefit that The News Room members get is prizes. Prizes can be from a digital camera to a new car.

Conclusion
The News Room is a good program for earning money. If you have a blog with high traffic, The News Room will be generating some revenue in addition to your current revenue resources, but keep in mind that you will need at least 2000 views to make $8. It will be no match for Adsense, but we will see in the future.

Marketing Your Site with Brand Attention

This is a sponsored post.

Not everyone was born to the web, so that’s what services like Brand Attention are here for. Brand Attention specializes in Search Engine Optimisation, Web Marketing, and online advertising. These three things are very important in terms of having a good blog.

The Brand Attention SEO process involves five main steps, following your timeline and your goals. I’ve summarized their process for you:

  • Market Analysis
    • Recognizing competitors
  • Keyword Research
    • Researches for keywords related to your site
  • Indexation, Accessibility and Crawl Path Analysis
    • Analysing spiders and bots and how they crawl your site
  • Content Relevancy Recommendations
    • ” Relevancy of the content in relation to the agreed target keyword phrases”
  • Brand Awareness, Reputation and Link Popularity
    • Promoting your site
  • Tracking, Analysis and Reporting
    • Your reports and progress

Design
Since Brand Attention is also specialized in Web Design, I have decided to review their design.
They have a nice design, clean and simple.

The colour of the design and logo switches when you browse different sections of the site; the layout of the site changing colour is good with me. But when you change the logo, that’s a little too much. The logo is the trademark of your company. When you switch colours, which logo do you want to imprint on peoples’ minds? The orange? Blue?

Contact…. Client Login…. No “Register”?
There is a Client Login page linked from the home page. But there is no Register page. No explanation either. A note would be nice, to tell visitors to Contact for an account. That leaves visitors lost. Work has been put in to write pages about their company, and when the visitors want to sign up, suddenly, they are lost. They don’t know how to get involved; or how to sign up for that program.

The Bits and Ends
The navigation bar is a bit mixed up. There is a certain “order” where the links usually go, and if the order is not followed, links will look out of place. The login pages usually first or last. But since the Home page is first, the Client Login should go last, and the Sitemap should go second to last. The Contact should go third, since their goal is to get people to contact them to sign up.
The buttons at the bottom are un-clickable, but hover-able. And I don’t know why there is a Radisson (hotel) button and other various buttons… affiliates? Awards? I have no idea.

Conclusion
Brand Attention looks like a new company; there are lots of room for improvement. Listen to the advice on the reviews you ordered, and you should be fine. ;)

They also have an Online Marketing Blog on which they report on some tech news, SEO (search engine optimization) marketing, etc. Posts are short and sweet, very easy and “fun” to read. The blog posts about news and rumors are somewhat accurate, like the Yahoo and MSN rumor. ;)
