Timeless Posts vs News Posts
Timeless posts usually feature tips, techniques, thoughts, stories, whereas news posts focus on current news and a certain news event.
News posts can be used for reference in the future, and a few minutes of enjoyment when reading the post. Other than that, it’s going back to the archives.
Timeless posts are timeless; you can have as much time as you want to push it to the front page of a social networking site.
Why you would want News Posts:
- Grab headlines. The latest news, on the latest posts.
- Attract new readers. Even though these have an expiry date, you can use these to attract readers by using catchy headlines such as “How name Could have Saved Millions” and including your own views and tips.
- Be “in”. You don’t want to be all focused on certain topics; a news post to let readers know you’re still connected with the rest of the world may be helpful.
- Become a reference. Remember the phrase “Oh yes, I heard about it on so and so’s blog!”? Now you can be mentioned.
Why you would want Timeless Posts:
- No expiry date. These can be read whenever– in April, in May, in December, after elections– anytime.
- More chances of making it big. A lot of people have made it big because of one extreme post, and usually those posts are timeless. They also give you a lot of time to work on advertising.
- More time. Because there is no expirty date, you can take as long as you want to tell your friends or edit it.
- Help others. Help your fellow bloggers. Help friends. Help, help. When others get better, you do too.
Everyone has a preference– one, both, or something else? Which one would you prefer, and why? Tell me in your comment!

Good reminders. I need to probably get back to writing “Timeless Posts” but it’s so much easier writing other kinds of posts… Probably explains a lot. (#):D

Bush- No problem. I know how you feel. But they always end up going to the back of the archives. :P

Thanks for the tip, Grace :) as a blog surfer I have no specific preference over timeless or news posts, since they’re all woth reading as long as they have some quality in it (and yep, quantity doesn’t matter at all). But as a blogger myself, I don’t really write a lot of News posts - I don’t blog about headlines, like who’ve died or what’s invented, unless the issue concerned lies within my area of interest, such as human right violant, pollution and the environment, child abuse, privacy concerns and etc. But News posts really brings you a whole truck of visitors, especially when you’ve dug out groundbreaking news while they’re not widely publicised yet, like how the whole guessing game over the look of iPhone brought a few tech blogs millions of hits before that little gadget was released.
I do write Timeless posts, most of them are tutorials and awareness campaigns. I agree with what you’ve said, these posts never really expire :)

Nice compilation, I like a combination of both as I feel both are equally important.

I would prefer to timeless posts rather than news posts, except if the news is hot topics and interesting.
