Which Search Terms Generate the Most Traffic?

There are lots of different search terms and keywords out there that people sometimes stuff into their articles. (Keyword stuffing gets you excluded from searches.) I’m curious about the search terms or keywords that have generated traffic for you this month.

The search term that has generated the most traffic for this month (for me) is… buy me a beer from the WordPress Plugin: Buy Me a Beer. (Did you come here from this keyword?)

So I’d like to know which are your blog’s ‘favourite’ keywords. :)

Even google wants to get you a beer :-)

BTW, for me it was the term “vayama” toped the list!

  2. Grace Says:

:D You mean drink. ;) Vayama is a unique term. You don’t hear that very often!

  3. Benedict Herold Says:

That’s true! :-) Else would not have managed to get in google’s top 10 :)

  4. Nirmal Says:

Mine was actually not a single term, Sony Ericsson reviews were unique for me. And also there are few others.

  5. Rhys Says:

I get a lot for “rhys”, which is quite impressive. I’m usually up the top for it, considering how many famous Rhys’ there are in the world.

  6. Bush Mackel Says:

    1st “bush mackel”
    2nd “input field yellow problem”

I have no idea why anyone would be searching for “bush mackel” but I’m glad they found me. (#):)

  7. Brown Baron Says:

I’m trying to get the number one spot for the words “shiest blogger” or “shyest blogger” hehehe

  8. Benedict Herold Says:

Brown, Unfortunately you’re in the number one spot for “problogger” ;-)

  9. Brown Baron Says:

    Benedict - haha :)

    @Brown - So that’s been your plan!

“Dolphin olympics” is currently the keyword driving the most traffic to 2Dolphins — and by no small margin. Of the hits on that keyword phrase, more than 97% come from Google searches.

Oddly enough, this comes from a brief (only 2 sentences & no graphics) post I did over 5 months ago (called Dolphin Olympics) about a silly (but fun!) little Flash-based online game. I’ve only referenced this game once and haven’t previously linked back to that original blog post.

  12. Grace Says:

    Brown- Very evil indeed. :D

Bush- I’m sure Brown is out there right now planning how to get his spot for “shiest blogger” or “shyest blogger”. :)

  13. Brown Baron Says:

Haha maybe “reluctant blogger” would be better :D

  14. dEEPAK Says:

The top search term for my new blog is iWphone..
But surprisingly on my old blogger blog I used to get a lots of hits from search for “deepak”

  15. Michael Says:

I wrote a photoshop tutorial a couple months ago teaching how to create an animated signature and ever since then I’ve seen a bunch of traffic from Google. The search terms are mostly stuff like “photoshop CS2 signature” or “animated signature photoshop” and so on. I never would’ve guessed so many people would be interested in something so simple :)

Recently I am using Google Trend to find keywords. So far it helps a lot.
