Turning Visitors Into Regulars Part II

Browser compatibility is important. Make sure your blog is compatible with at least two of the main browsers: Internet Explorer and Fire Fox. Most people use Internet Explorer, but Fire Fox comes in a close second. Most “Site Viewers (View your site in another browser)” aren’t accurate.

Keep your website traffic stats private until they start to look pretty. I don’t recommend showing your website stats, but if you want to, wait until you get at least 100+ uniques per day to start releasing them to the public. If not, you may get laughed at by bigger sites.

People love attention grabbers. See some excellent website layouts. An attention grabbing layout helps both in social networking websites and website directories.

Make sure your website loads fast. By fast, I mean your website loading in 4 seconds. Visitors’ attention spans are short, and if they don’t know what your site is about, it might not be worth the wait, would it? Some tips to shorten your page loading time:

  • If you have a lot of javascript code, make a new file for it called yournamehere.js, with all the javascript from your page inside it, and on your main file where you want the javascript to appear on, type:
